Día de los Muertos is a holiday that is public and celebrated in Mexico. During the 16th century, the celebration took place at the beginning of Summer. Gradually it was associated with October 31, November 1 and 2, to coincide with the western Christian, of All Saints’ Eve, and All Souls’ Day. The traditions connect with the holiday with building, private altars called, ofrendas, it is to honor the deceased using sugar skulls (which I love), marigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed and visiting graves with these as gifts. Día de los Muertos became a national holiday based on educational policies in the 1960s, because the Mexican Government decided to make it a national holiday. The Mexican Day of the Dead celebration is like those culture’s observances of a time to honor the dead. Sometimes it hard trying to find the perfect movies for Halloween, to watch with them. I know when it comes to Halloween, I always watch Halloween movies. I think it a habit of mine that I have, so I decided that I will created a Tuesday Ten for the movies that I watch every Halloween and show you guys that there are Halloween movies out there that you can watch. 1) Halloween On a cold Halloween night in 1963, six year old Michael Myers brutally murdered his 17-year-old sister, Judith. He was sentenced and locked away for 15 years. But on October 30, 1978, while being transferred for a court date, a 21-year-old Michael Myers steals a car and escapes Smith's Grove. He returns to his quiet hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois, where he looks for his next victims. 2) Trick 'r Treat Interwoven stories demonstrate that some traditions are best not forgotten as the residents (Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Dylan Baker) of a small town face real ghosts and goblins on Halloween. Tales of terror reveal the consequences of extinguishing a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight and a grumpy hermit's encounter with a sinister trick-or-treater. 3) Idle Hands When slacker teen Anton Tobias (Devon Sawa) has his right hand possessed by a demonic force, he finds that his life gets a lot more interesting. While Anton himself is an amiable guy, his hand proves to be an appendage of death, killing his two best buddies, Pnub (Elden Henson) and Mick (Seth Green), who return to life as wisecracking zombies. In addition to murdering those closest to him, Anton's evil hand significantly hinders his chances with lovely neighbor Molly (Jessica Alba). 4) Ginger Snaps The story of two outcast sisters, Ginger (Katharine Isabelle) and Brigitte (Emily Perkins), in the mindless suburban town of Bailey Downs. On the night of Ginger's first period, she is savagely attacked by a wild creature. Ginger's wounds miraculously heal but something is not quite right. Now Brigitte must save her sister and save herself. 5) Night of the Demons (1988) Wild teenage girls (Mimi Kinkade, Linnea Quigley) hold a Halloween seance in an old funeral parlor to scare their friends. 6) Night of the Demons (2009) Eighty years ago, the Broussard mansion in New Orleans was the site of a suicide and the disappearance of six people. Now, when Maddie and her girlfriends arrive on the scene for the ultimate Halloween party, they discover that it is more than an urban legend. Malevolent entities haunt the place, and they need seven human vessels in order to break through into this world. 7) Halloween H20: 20 Years Later Two decades after surviving a massacre on October 31, 1978, former baby sitter Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) finds herself hunted by persistent knife-wielder Michael Myers. Laurie now lives in Northern California under an assumed name, where she works as the headmistress of a private school. But it's not far enough to escape Myers, who soon discovers her whereabouts. As Halloween descends upon Laurie's peaceful community, a feeling of dread weighs upon her -- with good reason. 8) Hocus Pocus After moving to Salem, Mass., teenager Max Dennison (Omri Katz) explores an abandoned house with his sister Dani (Thora Birch) and their new friend, Allison (Vinessa Shaw). After dismissing a story Allison tells as superstitious, Max accidentally frees a coven of evil witches (Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kathy Najimy) who used to live in the house. Now, with the help of a magical cat, the kids must steal the witches' book of spells to stop them from becoming immortal. 9) Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers This installment marks the return of the seemingly indestructible masked murderer Michael Myers (George P. Wilbur), who is targeting Tommy Doyle (Paul Stephen Rudd), a young man tied into the legacy of the killer and his connections with the Strode family. As the supernatural elements of Michael's macabre abilities are explored, his longtime adversary, Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence), is also back in yet another attempt to stop the psychopath's brutal rampages. 10) Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers After lying in a coma for a year, Michael Myers (Donald L. Shanks) awakens and stalks his way back to his small hometown in Illinois, intent on killing his niece, Jamie (Danielle Harris), who has been confined to a mental institution since Michael's last attempt to slay her. Suspecting a psychic link between Michael and Jamie, psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) joins forces with Sheriff Ben Meeker (Beau Starr) and attempts to stop Michael's latest rampage. Please let me know what your favorite Halloween movie was in the comments below. xoxo Lex When it came to actually doing something for Halloween and fall, I didn't know what to do, besides, looking at you tube and reading all the fashion bloggers posts of what they have on Halloween for a Diy. When I actually sit down to it, I was pretty overwhelm about doing a Diy for Halloween and fall. The reason why is because I am not good at it, well at least I don't think I am good at it. When it came down to take a blade and a pencil to trace a circle on the pumpkin, it became really easy. But now I wish I can do more to add more fall decor to my home and bedroom, I think I will. Halloween and Fall are like one of my favorite time of the year besides winter. I think I would add more to my Diy. When it came to making the Pumpkin candle holder, I had fun making these, it wasn't the fact that everyone is or already made them, I just fun because I was the one that made it. Here are items you would need to make these:
Items: Foam Pumpkins Flameless candles blade Just remember to have fun and do it because you want to and not because someone is making you do it. I made one because I always wanted to make one and every time I try to make one, all the foam pumpkins were gone and I could not make one. So please have fun and enjoyed making these with your kids, family members, mother, father, sister, brother, friend or wife or husband. Please let me know you need any help with questions or concerns, please leave a comment below and I will be happy to answer them. When it came to making a centerpiece for my table, It was hard work, because I didn't know what I wanted to do with the items that I had. I was supposed to make a fall decor piece for my table, but I didn't want to spend a fortune on Fall bundles of leaves, So I waited and I decided to do a centerpiece with Black Roses, spiders and pumpkins, So I decided to arrange the spiders as if they were crawling on the roses, which was pretty cool. As I making it, I had to trim down the roses and the spiders a little more until they actually fit the pumpkins. It was pretty easy to do and really fun afterward and it turn out to be something that I can love and cherish. I never made anything like this, I am not a really crafty person, because every time I try to do something, it never turn out the way that I want. So that why I never do them. But this is the first that I have done and I am glad that I did it and I like it very much and will consider to do more. Here are the items that you would need....
Items: foam Pumpkins (Family Dollars or anywhere foam pumpkins are sold) Bunches of Roses and spiders bundles (Dollar tree) wire cutters ( Any craft stores) ribbons (Any craft store) Glitter ( Anywhere that sell it) dot paint brush ( Any craft store) Just remember this that some of the items you wont need unless you want to. I didn't add ribbon to mine because I wasn't sure if I like it or if it would turn out. But anyways, this is your project to, so do whatever you feel like doing and have fun with it to. |
